The survey results are in and the orchestra voted on the pieces we will be playing for the Winter Showcase. The winners were: Winter Wonderland, and Variant on an Old English Carol. Winter Wonderland is an easier piece for us because we are including our beginner students, and we will have a student conducting to meet the Senior project requirements. Variant on an Old English Carol is a fast, fun piece that challenges students to read rhythms rather than relying on how they think the song should sound. The violas and cellos frequently have the melody, and the longer note values give them a chance to develop and use vibrato techniques.
This year at Crockett, the Fine Arts team is planning a Winter Showcase on December 11th. All the Fine Arts will be represented as well as all of Crockett's feeder schools including Bedichek and Covington. The Crockett combined Orchestras and Full Orchestra will be performing in the newly refurbished PAC.
We want to sound awesome for all of our guests and represent Crockett with our best possible performance. Everyone must practice daily!! To prepare for this concert, the orchestras will have after school and lunch sectionals and rehearsals starting in November and ending December 11th. The schedule for these rehearsals are as follows.
